Thank you for your interest in being a member of the varsity girls’ gymnastics team for the 2018 season. In order to try out and practice in August, you must be approved through Family Id (https://www.familyid.com/pages/home). Once this is taken care of, you will be eligible to try out for the team. If possible, please have these things taken care of before the end of the school year. If you wait until August, the correct paperwork and approval may not make it to me in time for our first practice. Without this approval, I CANNOT let you try out or practice.
Here are some important dates to remember:
> August 20th, 21st, and 22nd
> We will be setting up Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (if needed) from 11-2 in the middle school gym. Please enter the school from the Howe Field side of the building as the doors near the cafeteria will be closed. There is a lot of construction going on in that area.
> Please WEAR SNEAKERS!!! NO Flip Flops.
> Only team members from last year need to attend.
> August 27th (Monday) – 9:00am-11:15 am
> Practice for only those girls not on varsity last year.
> August 28th, 29th and 30th 9:00-11:15 am
> Practice for all who signed up
> September 4th 3:15-5:30
> Practice for everyone
> Once school starts we will have practice after school every day from 3:15-5:30
Things that I expect you to be able to do the first week of practice:
20 push-ups without stopping
45 sit-ups without stopping
Cartwheel, round off, a bridge and be close to your splits – all with good form
These things can be worked on throughout the summer. Remember to take it slowly. Don’t do too much when you are first starting to get back into shape.
If you need to contact me, call the High School HPER office at 646-3344 or email me at: email@example.com
* If you plan on getting a NEW piercing over the summer – WAIT until after the gymnastics season. You are not allowed to practice or compete with jewelry.
