HHS is a School of Distinction. Last year 100% of Hamburg's Athletic Teams qualified for and received the Scholar Athlete Award. For this accomplishment HHS has been placed on the New York State Public High School Athletic Association's Academic Honor Roll for earning the School of Distinction Award in the Scholar/Athlete Team Award Program in 2011-2012.
Physical Education Philosophy
The philosophy of the Hamburg Central School District's Physical Education Department is to provide a comprehensive developmental program which empowers all students to sustain regular lifelong physical activity as a foundation for a healthy, productive and fulfilling life. We believe that Physical Education is critical to educating the whole person and our programs' diversity will afford all students the opportunity to enjoy participation and success, as well as develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. Further, our program promotes interdisciplinary approaches and integration of curriculums when appropriate. While we encourage those students who display talent and/ or interest to participate in our interscholastic athletic program, our primary objective is to ensure that all students enhance their sense of well being and maximize their quality of life through our Physical Education program.
