The KidSkills program is designed to provide Kindergarten students with the opportunity to strengthen skills necessary for academic success. The program is center based, enabling instruction in small groups. The centers involve phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, literacy skills, and fine motor skills. Each classroom attends KidSkills one time per week for one hour.
The KidkSkills team consists of:
Your child's classroom teacher;
Mrs. Clarke (AIS reading teacher);
Mrs. Pietrosanto (occupational therapist assistant);
Mrs. Garra (consultant teacher).
We encourage parent participation through the use of take home activities in "Kid Tools, School Tools" toolboxes. We encourage you to complete the activities with your child. Most activities take about 15 minutes to complete. Approaching the activities with a positive attitude and making it a special time with your child will help your child develop a love of learning. Please return the tool boxes by the due date so that we can send the tool box home with another child. Your suggestions and comments help us to keep the activities fun, yet challenging.
We are all looking forward to a successful school year!
Sincerely,
The KidSkills Team
