Welcome to My Web Page! Mrs. Anne Gilhooly, BVS Counselor Counseling services offered to Boston Valley Elementary students include the following:
Individual counseling, group counseling and family counseling, as needed. Students are referred by school staff or parents/guardians, for a variety of reasons: adjustment issues, academic difficulties, family issues (separation/divorce, death of a family member, problems within the parent-child relationship), friendship/peer problems and concerns regarding classroom behavior. Classroom interventions and instruction by the Counselor address the following: self-awareness and self-esteem building, friendship skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, anger management, bullying awareness and prevention, character education and good citizenship. The Counselor also facilitates the Peer Helper program, which involves a select group of fifth grade students who engage in volunteer work throughout the school year.
Family counseling is also available at the Hamburg Family Support Center, free of charge. For more information, call 646-9593. Anne Gilhooly, Boston Valley School Counselor, may be contacted at 646-3243, or by e-mail at agilhooly@hamburgschools.org |
