Arrival/Dismissal Zone Update-February 2016
As you know we opened our arrival/dismissal zone back in November. We have had a great response to this new zone and have appreciated you working with us as we continually look for ways to maintain a safe school environment. Over the past several months we have monitored the effectiveness of this area and have made some changes to make this process move smoothly. One change we wanted you make you aware of is the addition of the right turn only sign as you exit our driveway. This was put into effect to eliminate cars crossing into each other's paths. After meeting with Hamburg Village officials today I can let you know they are planning on making the entrance into the arrival/dismissal zone a right turn only as well, to eliminated traffic crossing over at the entrance. This might require some families to plan a different route, however our priority is safety. As always Charlotte Ave, by the school, is a no standing zone with a speed limit of 15 mph. When you are lining up to enter the arrival/dismissal zone please be sure to follow the Hamburg Village's rules as we would hate to see anyone receive a ticket. Please, tell anyone who will pick up or drop off your child the procedures they need to follow.
Attention all K-5 Parents: Thank you all for making our new arrival/dismissal zone a huge success! As a reminder the times for the arrival/dismissal zone are: 8:45-9:00 and 2:45-3:05 As the winter weather arrives soon, we want to maintain a safe flow of traffic. Remember to drive slowly as you enter and exit the areas around the school as children are not always looking for you. Please help us by making sure your children know if they are going to be picked up by a car in our dismissal zone. This is very important because they need to know which door to exit out. We know that at times circumstances change and a phone call to the school is needed. Please be sure to have all arrangements made before 2:00 each day. Also, remember that stopping/parking on Charlotte Ave. is illegal. In keeping in mind the colder weather, please send in an old sweatshirt for your child to be kept in the classroom. In the unlikely event that we will need to evacuate the building in cold weather, your child will be handed their sweatshirt by their teacher to keep warm outside. Evacuations require an immediate exit of the building and a travel bag of sweatshirts helps aid in a quick evacuation. Your child’s sweatshirt will be returned by the end of the school-year.
Attention all Pre- K Parents: Winter weather is close by and to best prepare for the changes we want to remind you that the doors for PreK are only open at the following times: 9:00 and 11:30 for AM PreK 12:30 and 3:00 for PM Prek Since we are not able to open our doors earlier than the listed times we are recommending that you stay in your cars as close to the times listed. We do not want to have anyone standing out in the elements any longer than they have to. Thank you for your cooperation. Parents who are picking up at 11:30: Please note that the cone at the end of the driveway is put out once the PreK students begin to board the buses around 11:30. It is illegal to pass busses with their lights on. The cone is placed there to maintain a safe environment for our students and to keep in line with the law. Also, please make every effort to use the parking lot that has been saved for you. The K-5 parents are not allowed in the parking lot and as they are trying to drop off or pick up students they only have the side street or the arrival/drop off zone. The extra cars on the side streets are making it difficult for them to find parking. Remember that stopping/parking on Charlotte Ave is illegal. We truly appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for everyone.
