We will be swimming during the school year after our first rotation of football, soccer, rock wall, and gymnastics is complete. At Hamburg Middle School we take advantage of the pool that we have and we look forward to teaching our students many activities in the pool. We cover the basic strokes of the front crawl, breast stroke, elementary back stroke, side stroke, and back stroke. While teaching these strokes, we include many lead ups that teach the most beginner of swimmers while still finding a way to challenge our most advanced swimmers. In our second rotation of swimming, we look to fine tune the swimming strokes that we have already introduced as well as introducing the students to pool safety and survival techniques such as treading water and other flotation techniques. These will help any swimmer if they find themselves in a situation where they might need to float in the water while waiting for assistance from another person. Along with swimming, we engage in games of water polo and general free time that allows each student to find their comfort zone in the water.
