• We Are Bucket Fillers

In class we read Have You Filled a Bucket Today? and Growing Up with a Bucket Full of Happiness by Carol McCloud. We learned that everyone carries an invisible bucket that holds our happy feelings. When our buckets are full, we feel great! When our buckets are empty, we feel sad. "Bucket Fillers" are people who do and say kind or thoughtful things to fill the buckets of others. When they do this, they fill their own bucket as well. A "Bucket Dipper" is someone who empties the buckets of others by doing or saying things that make others feel sad. We have learned about ways to fill the buckets of others and how to avoid dipping. We also learned that you can use your "lid" to prevent dippers from emptying your bucket.
In class we are filling the buckets of our classmates through kind words and actions. We write down compliments or tell our friends how they have made us feel happy. It is wonderful to see the smiles on our faces as we read these special messages. A smile is a sign that a bucket has been filled! Remember, filling someone else's bucket fills your own as well.

    Follow These 3 Simple Rules:
    1. Be a Bucket Filler
    2. Don't Dip
    3. Use Your Lid
