Field Trips: We will visit Kelkenberg Farm in Akron, NY. There is always room for moms and dads to go along! The date of our trip is May 25, 2018.

Graded Work:  All graded work will come home in your child's take home folder. Please look over the work with your child and let me know if there are any questions or concerns. Our reading and math tests should be signed by a parent and returned to school.

Homework:  We usually have math homework M-Th. Reading each night is important to build reading skills.

Important Information:  If you have any important papers that need to come to school, please send them in your child's blue take home folder, as I will be checking these daily!

Just Right BooksYou will hear a lot about this through the year.  A just right book is a book that your child can pick up and read on their own without struggling to read the words or understanding the content.

Kindness: Our class will participate in a classroom meeting each morning and afternoon.  During our meetings we will greet each other, give compliments, and participate in team building activities. Students will be expected to be kind to each other during our entire day.

Lunch:  We will eat lunch each day from 11:35-12:05 p.m.

Morning Work:  Morning work is what students will do upon entering the room every morning. Students will complete a daily language and/or math review.

Reading LogStudents are expected to read at home for at least 10 minutes each night in addition to their math homework. Your child can read books from home as well as books borrowed from our classroom. Please make sure your child is completing their reading log.

Scholastic Book Orders: About once a month a book order form will come home from Scholastic. This is a great way to purchase books inexpensively, while helping our class earn points towards free books for our classroom library.  You can even order on line by going to Scholastic.com and using our lass activation code: GXY2W

Tardy:  School begins at 8:50. Students have morning work assignments to complete as soon as they walk in the door. Please make sure that your child is at school on time. Arriving after this time causes students to lose instructional time.

Unique: Each child is unique in many ways.  In our class I try to differentiate instruction when needed for different learning styles and abilities.

Volunteers are always welcome!  There are many ways you can be involved in our classroom.  Volunteering is completely optional and always appreciated.
