My career at Union Pleasant Elementary School began in 2003 as a Kindergarten teacher. I hold a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Fredonia State, and a master's degree in Reading Education from the University at Buffalo. I grew up in Western New York, and enjoy living, teaching and raising my family here.
During your child's year in kindergarten, it is my hope that you will serve as a partner with me to help nurture your child's success as they build their academic foundation. In our classroom, learning is an active and social process. Curiosity, exploration, and investigation are encouraged so that students may learn to seek out solutions. This, in turn, will help your child to discover that learning is an enjoyable, lifelong endeavor. My goal is to provide students with the skills, strategies, and knowledge they will require to be successful in their future academic and personal pursuits, within a safe and comfortable environment.
The kindergarten program your child will be a part of this year is likely to be quite different from what you may remember your own kindergarten experience to be. Therefore, it is important that you educate yourself and keep informed about what your child is learning and doing at school. Doing so will assist you in supporting and encouraging your child. Most of all during this kindergarten year, love your child and enjoy watching them as they continue to develop into a very special, very unique individual!
