Classroom Business

v    Homework is given 3-4 times per week and almost never on Friday.  It shouldn’t take more than 10-20 minutes to complete.  Homework is expected to come back to school the very next day.  If your child is having a difficult time or is giving you a hard time about completing tasks, please let me know, I can help.

v    Math flashcards will be sent home in a yellow envelope.  They must be kept in the Communication Folder.  Your child should practice these facts each day.  They will be assessed periodically and given additional, more challenging cards.

v    A spelling list will be sent home every Monday.  Spelling tests will be given every Friday.  Students may practice their spelling words at www.spellingcity.com.

v    Reading benchmark tests, reading selection tests and math unit tests will be sent home throughout the year.  Please review the tests, sign them, and then return them to school.

v    Reading for enjoyment should be done as often as possible, at least five days per week.  Each month, beginning in September, there will be reading book reports sent home.  The students should be responding to books they’ve read at home.  These reading responses (book reports) will be due on the last Friday of each month.  The number of book reports assigned each month may vary.

v    Volunteers will be needed soon.  A sign up sheet will be available on the evening of Open House.
