Pre-K and Kindergarten Reading
*The following are suggestions, not mandatory reading lists.
*If your child enjoys a book, try to find other titles by the same author.
*Try different genres in fiction and non-fiction. Children love learning facts!
*Your child may be above or below the reading level of some titles on the list for his/her grade. To be sure you have chosen a book at the appropriate level, do the Five-finger test. Ask your child to read one page aloud. The child should count the number of words that are difficult. If there are 5 per page, the book is too difficult for independent reading.
*Reading to your child is always good practice!
