User directories are housed on a file server where teachers may save their files. Saving your files to your user directory will ensure that you are able to access your work from any computer in the building. In order to gain access to these directories or (H:) drives, you must log-in.
A Novell account will be set up for you at the time of employment.
For students and instructional staff:
Your username will be the first seven letters of your last name and the first letter of your first name. Example: smithr
For administrative, clerical and all other staff:
Your username will be your first initial and the first seven characters of your last name. Example: rsmith
Each time you turn on a District computer you will see the Novell Login,
The first time you log in you will leave the password blank. After logging in, the system will prompt you with a message stating that your password has expired. You must create a password at this time. The password must be a minimum of 3 characters.
Once you have created your password, you will use your username and password each time you log in.
After the Novell Login Window, you will be presented with the AUP ?splash screen? that is describes your rights and responsibilities as a network user. Please read this information and click ?OK?.
DO NOT leave your computer logged-in. If you are going to leave your computer unattended, it is important that you go to the Start menu and select the Log Off option. Failure to do so will allow anyone walking up to the screen to have access to your directory. They can then view, alter or delete any of your files. You are responsible for actions that occur using your login name.
Typically, you can only be logged on to one computer at a time; failure to log out of one workstation will prevent you from logging in at any other workstation.
