Starting in April, Hamburg Middle School is participating in a STEPS TO OUR SOLDIERS project. It is 6,756 miles from Fort Drum, New York to Paktika Province, Afghanistan, where some of our soldiers are stationed. The project’s main objective is for everyone to work together toward a common goal, symbolically ”walking” the miles between home and our soldiers! We are encouraged to walk, run, bike, swim, hike or anything else active. We earn one mile for every 10 minutes of sustained physical activity. We can do this during PE class, sports practice, intramurals, or on our own. Pick up a paper flag either in the library or from your PE teacher. Write your name and how many miles you’ve earned through your fitness activities on the flag and turn it into your PE teacher by Friday every week. Mr. Warner, Mrs. Blake, Mr. Carroll, Mr. Grobe and Mr. Barth will be tracking our progress in the gym, adding up our miles every week! Questions? See Mrs. Moelbert or Mr. Warner. Let’s see how far HMS can go!
