Degrees and Certifications:
Thank you for visiting my webpage. I have been teaching Seventh Grade Social Studies at HMS for twenty years-- wow does time fly! I truly enjoy being a part of the Hamburg community. I love being an educator and I hope that passion shows each day when students enter our classroom.
I have lived in Western New York my entire life, attending West Seneca schools, graduating from UB with a degree in History and earning my Master's Degree in Education from Canisius College. My wife and I live in Springville where our two children attend middle school. I coach my children's softball and baseball teams, was fortunate to be elected to the S-GI School Board in 2014 and serve on a community youth board in Springville. I work with other parents and educators across New York as part of several advocacy groups to support education reform that benefits our children. I have also been a college basketball referee for the last twenty years. I love playing golf and watching sports, especially the Bills, when time allows.
My favorite subjects in Social Studies are government and geography(I love Google maps). I am passionate about my students' understanding all points of view in history and current events so they can best develop their own strong viewpoints. I want my students to understand how our government works and the importance of participation in our communities. I strongly recommend students watching the 6:30 national evening news to be aware of current events. Students who pay attention to important news have a greater understanding of history and its connection to current events impacting their lives.
