• EXPRESSIVE LANGUAGE- how one uses language
     
    Children may have expressive language weaknesses if they struggle with the following: formulating sentences, verbally sequencing events, retelling a story, defining vocabulary, using socially appropriate language.
     
     
    RECEPTIVE LANGUAGE- ability to understand written and spoken language
     
    Children may have receptive language weaknesses if they struggle with the following: following multi-step directions, understanding the meaning of sentences, understanding vocabulary, interpreting figurative language, and answering "wh" questions.
