Supplies: Your child will need a backpack to carry his or her lunch, folder, and books. Crayons, scissors, glue sticks, pencils, and colored pencils will be stored in each child’s chairpack and replenished as needed. Other supplies will be shared and placed in a central location. Please remember to send your child’s “Take Home” folder to school each day and to check it each night for notes, permission slips, homework, etc. Anything you want me to see must be placed in the folder. Sneakers are required every day for comfort and safety and are needed in order to use playground equipment. I will contact you if any other supplies are needed during the year.
Attendance: Attendance is taken daily at 9:05 a.m. If your child is absent, please call Mrs. Ehlers, the school nurse, at 646-3397. Please send a written excuse when your child returns to school. Tardiness also requires a written excuse.
Dismissal: Bus students will be escorted to their buses each day. Walkers may be picked up at 2:55 p.m. If your child is to be picked up by someone different or is to ride a different bus, please send a note to school. Please specify in your note whether your child is to be picked up at the front doors as a walker or in a car at the round-about drive through. I am not able to release your child or make any changes without written permission. Also, if a change occurs during the day, please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) as well as both of our secretaries (email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org) before 2:00 p.m.
Lunch: Our scheduled lunchtime is from 11:55-12:25. Children may buy lunch from the cafeteria for $2.25 daily, or prepay using an online account if that is more convenient. Milk purchased without a lunch is 50 cents. Please send all lunch money in a Ziploc bag labeled with your child's name or wallet. Money in pockets gets lost easily.
Snack: We will have a snack break each morning. Please send a healthy snack, such as fruit, vegetables, pretzels, or crackers and try to package the snacks so that your child can distinguish them from his or her lunch. I will always have extra snacks on hand for children who forget at any time.
Star of the Week: Beginning in October, each student will have a turn to be our “Star of the Week.” The week before, a self-portrait and poster will be sent home to complete. Please answer the questions together and decorate the poster. Be creative! Visitors are welcome as guest readers during your child’s special week!
Contact Information: If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please feel free to contact me by phone (646-3370 ext. 3129) or by e-mail (email@example.com). I’m looking forward to a wonderful year working with you and your child!
