 ELA-Fiction and non-fiction satories about American traditions will be our next 6 weeks of theme studies.Plot and theme with details were covered. All of the skills studied up to date will continue to be reviewed. We are using StudyIsland.com in computer lab to strengthen our ELA NY State Core skills.The children can also get on this site at home.

 

Math- We are still heavily into addition and subtraction  of hundreds, tens and ones with regrouping.

 ABCYA.com is another free site where your child can practice money facts and money bingo. There are numerous other academic topics at this site.Use of netbooks, when they are available, is another tool we are using in class, to practice math skills during seat work time.IXL is the site we use and your children can get on this site at home. 

 

Science- We are now into our plant life cycle unit. We have started indoor gardening and have moved outdoors with our gloves as the weather permits.

Writer's Workshop-Non-fiction writing, with an emphasis on detail writing, and supporting facts, are our current focus.

 

Social Studies-Map skills and geography studies are our current area of work. Brain Pop Jr. is a good site for your child to get on at home to review not only social study skills, but science, math and ELA skills.
