Charlotte Avenue Elementary School and Charlotte Avenue PTSA
Recognized Nationally as a School of Excellence
National PTA® has once again recognized Charlotte Avenue Elementary and the Charlotte Avenue PTSA as a National PTA School of Excellence for their achievement in building effective family-school partnerships. Research shows that when families and schools work together, student achievement increases, schools improve and communities grow stronger. Being recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence demonstrates our school’s and PTSA's leadership and commitment to supporting student success and continuous school improvement.
“The partnership between Charlotte Avenue and their PTSA is a true example of what can be accomplished when schools and families work together,” said Laura Bay, president of National PTA.
National PTA launched its National PTA School of Excellence program to help strengthen family-school partnerships across the country and make measurable progress in the areas of education, health and safety and arts and cultural exploration.
To be recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence, PTAs evaluate their current family engagement strategies and submit a goal for school improvement that families, teachers and administrators have set together. They improve upon their family engagement strategies throughout the year, while focusing on their goal. The National PTA School of Excellence designation is awarded to those schools that have demonstrated improvement in the family-school partnership and significant progress toward their goal.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a Village of Hamburg traffic regulation which supports a safer environment around the Charlotte Ave School. There are no left turns allowed into the drop off/pick up driveway.
Attention all Pre- K Parents: The doors for PreK are only open at the following times: 9:00 and 11:30 for AM PreK, 12:30 and 3:00 for PM Prek Since we are not able to open our doors earlier than the listed times we are recommending that you stay in your cars as close to the times listed. We do not want to have anyone standing out in the elements any longer than they have to. Thank you for your cooperation. Parents who are picking up at 11:30: Please note that the cone at the end of the driveway is put out once the PreK students begin to board the buses around 11:30. It is illegal to pass busses with their lights on. The cone is placed there to maintain a safe environment for our students and to keep in line with the law. Also, please make every effort to use the parking lot that has been saved for you. The K-5 parents are not allowed in the parking lot and as they are trying to drop off or pick up students they only have the side street or the arrival/drop off zone. The extra cars on the side streets are making it difficult for them to find parking. Remember that stopping/parking on Charlotte Ave is illegal. We truly appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for everyone. In keeping in mind the colder weather, please send in an old sweatshirt for your child to be kept in the classroom. In the unlikely event that we will need to evacuate the building in cold weather, your child will be handed their sweatshirt by their teacher to keep warm outside. Evacuations require an immediate exit of the building and a travel bag of sweatshirts helps aid in a quick evacuation. Your child’s sweatshirt will be returned by the end of the school-year.
Attention all K-5 Parents: Everyone must make a right turn only into the roundabout driveway to drop off or pick up your children. There are no left turns into the driveway allowed. As a reminder the times for the arrival/dismissal zone are: 8:45-9:00 and 2:45-3:05 Remember to drive slowly as you enter and exit the areas around the school as children are not always looking for you. Please help us by making sure your children know if they are going to be picked up by a car in our dismissal zone. This is very important because they need to know which door to exit out. We know that at times circumstances change. All daily changes to your child’s dismissal must be made in writing. If a change to your child’s dismissal takes place during the day, please email your child’s teacher as well as both secretaries in the office by 1:00 pm at firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
Also, remember that stopping/parking on Charlotte Ave. is illegal.
