Who Belongs?

In New York State, more than 385,000 parents, grandparents, teachers, students, caregivers, school and government officials belong! Anyone who cares about children can belong to PTA. Membership in a local unit is all-inclusive and automatically gives you membership in the State and National PTA. It also entitles you to a broad selection of programs and services that would otherwise be unavailable to local parent groups.

How to Join PTA

Although the greatest drive for membership is in the beginning of the school year, a person can join PTA at any time. The 2008-09 fees are as follows:

Single - $7

Double - $11

Additional Family Member(s) - $4 each

Click here for a 2008-09 membership application or contact any of the PTA unit presidents.

What Happens After I Join?

You alone determine what role you want to play in PTA. Your choices range from becoming a member and seeing your membership fee help to improve the lives of our children, to getting involved in some of the programs, committees and activities that PTA sponsors. School units generally hold PTA meetings once a month, and welcome all members to participate and get involved depending on where their interests lie. The Hamburg Executive Board holds meetings once a month. It also holds open board meetings twice a year (generally in October and May) which all PTA members are welcome to attend.
